Neil Lomax drops back to pass against the Eagles in what would be Dan Dierdorf's last game as a Cardinal...Busch Stadium, December 1983....so much snow it was hard to see the yard markers, but the Cardinals found the end zone plenty of times in a rout of Philly.....sparse crowd....only about 17,000 on hand that day......

And the season ended with  a football high five as Cardinal defensive back and future Hall-of Famer Larry Wilson said goodbye to the fans of St. Louis after 12 outstanding seasons with the Big Red. He was honored before the game and then did what he did so well for so long...his open-field tackle of the Eagle's Harold Carmichael saved a 24-23 [...]

The '72 season opened for the Cardinals on a positive note, however, when lineman Bob Rowe blocked this field goal attempt by Colt's kicker Jim O'Brien late in the game and the Big Red upset the Baltimore Colts 10-3 in the season debut of a little used quarterback who would become a household name in St. Louis for a whole other reason....remember [...]

Mel Gray

Speedster Mel Gray was the second half of the double threat in the mid 70's for opposing teams (Terry Metcalf out of the backfield was the other)...Gray played from 1971 to 1983 and made four straight Pro-Bowls in the mid 70's...and you know he was Washington coach George Allen's favorite player!! C' mon...he CAUGHT that pass!!!!!
