Pre-game concentration!

Pre-game concentration!

Cardinal's tight end Jackie Smith ponders the moments before kick-off prior to a 1975 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Smith caught two passes, one for a  30 yard touchdown, in a Big Red 31-20 victory.

Cards safety Larry Wilson is physically exhausted and helped off the field by Chuck Latourette and trainer Jack Rockwell after a Card's 21-20 win at Tulane Stadium in September of 1968. That's smoke clearing from the Saint's sideline cannon over the helmets of Chuck and Larry!

Football 1963…all of it!

Hard to believe, but take a look. That's the entire schedule for every team in the league for the year 1963. No playoffs, and only one game to decide the world champion. The Super Bowl was still four years away, and as Vince Lombardi once said, "the Playoff Bowl is for losers"....Everything over and out by January 12th!

Touchdown St. Louis!!

Touchdown St. Louis!!

Card's running back John David Crow finds the end zone in the first quarter of the Big Red's home opener in September of 1961 against those same Giants. Crow's early score paved the way to a 21-10 Cardinal's victory. The Big Red would finish 7-7 that year.

On the run…

On the run…

In the 60's the Eastern Division rivalry between the New York Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals drew a full house at both Yankee Stadium and Busch. Here Giant's quarterback Y.A. Tittle heads upfield after finding no open receivers against the Big Red in a 1961 contest in New York.....

Big Game Day!

1983 or any season in St. Louis... a match-up with either of these two teams became the Big Red's most anticipated game...home or away!
