The Cards first ‘star’ quarterback came along in 1961 from that football powerhouse known as New Mexico State…Charley Johnson played 15 years in the NFL, nine of them with the Big Red. A Pro-Bowl selection in 1963, Johnson is also a member of the Denver Bronco’s Ring-of Honor…….

You might remember the stories of Johnson studying for his Masters and Doctorate degrees in chemical engineering in St. Louis at Washington University while playing for the team. It paid off…for the last 20 years or so he has been a chemical engineering professor at his alma mater……
