Game four...Hawks up two games to one, but L.A. rallys from 10 down in the fourth quarter to pull out a five point win and tie the series. Ritchie Guerin bravely takes on four Lakers, driving the lane for two in this third quarter action at the Sports Arena.
Victory!! The Hawks win the deciding game five by nine at Kiel in March '64 as Lennie Wilkens scores 30 points to lead the way. Sweet revenge over West, Baylor, Wiley and Don Nelson, pictured here outhustled by Bob Pettit. But the boys in blue would be back.......It's on to San Francisco....
Down three games to two, this shot from April of 1964 shows Zelmo Beatty about to shoot a jump shot as Wilt Chamberlain is out of position to guard his Hawk opponent. This is the only photo I have from that series...the Hawks won that game, but dropped game seven in 'Frisco and headed home.....
1965 was Bob Pettit's final season in a Hawk uniform and an early first round best of five upset loss to the upstart Baltimore Bullets made for a sad farewell. Here in game one, Big Blue checks the scramble that includes Walt Bellamy and Zelmo Beatty. The Hawk loss in that game at Kiel paved the way for the Bullets to take the series in four games [...]

Lennie Wilkins drives around Guy Rodgers of the Chicago Bulls in the 1966 Western Division opening round of the playoffs...the Hawks won this game and closed out the Bulls three straight...setting up the best of seven division final with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Hawks got off to a rough start in that series..losing the first two games in L.A. Here rookie Jeff Mullins gets faked out by superstar Jerry West, who then hit for two of his 31 points in the second game...and the Hawks hopes were flickering at 0-2.
The Hawks won game three at home, but in a surprise, the Lakers took game four at Kiel and led the series 3-1. It's Zelmo Beatty over the Lakers Leroy Ellis for the rebound, and the Hawks as a team needed to rebound to avoid an early exit in 1966.
