With the asian swine flu rampant around the country in the Fall of 1976 and the St. Louis area on alert, Cardinals Head Coach Don Coryell gets his flu shot at Saint Louis University Hospital in a publicity attempt by the team to urge other St. Louisians to due likewise...the pub, of course, staged...the needles, tho, were real...ouch!
Who could forget Thanksgiving Day1976...the Cardinals needed this game in Dallas to stay in contention for the Eastern Division crown...needed to match the record of the Cowboys who had a one game lead....On first and goal, under a minute left, and trailing 19-14, Jim Hart unloaded in the end zone to J.V. Cain, who was literally mauled by the [...]

With just over four minutes to play, Cardinal's back Terry Metcalf heads for the end zone to complete a 68 yard TD pass play from quarterback Jim Hart, cutting the Redskin's lead to 26-21. That would be the final score, however, as a last minute Big Red victory drive is thwarted by Eddie Brown's interception of a Hart pass in the end zone. Notice [...]
December 10th, 1977...6 degrees with a wind chill of -12...Joe Thiesmann holds for kicker Mark Mosley's 40 yard first quarter field goal attempt...it's good...and the 'Skins jump out in front...it was a see-saw battle all that bitterly cold afternoon (I came home with slight frostbite) but somehow the Redskins with their beloved coach George Allen [...]

The Cards find a way, defeating Baltimore by [...]
The Cardinals were the opponents for the Seattle Seahawks when the Seattle Kingdome was inagurated on September 12th of 1976. The Big Red spoiled the party, winning by the score of 30-24.
Cardinals scat-back Terry Metcalf had reason to hip-hop on the furnace like turf at Busch in this September 19th,1976 game against the visiting Green Bay Packers...the temp was 82 degrees at kick-off and the surface on-field temperature registered at 102 degrees! The Big Red were just as hot, shutting out Green Bay by the score of 29-0.
From the appearance of Card's defensive tackle Mike Dawson you can determine that....Washington plays on natural turf...it rained in Washington on October 25, 1976...and Dawson didn't like it a whole lot. Worse yet, the 'Skins beat the Big Red in the MNF affair by the score of 20-10.
An offensive guard for the Big Red from 1972-1972, Bob Young also lent his services to the Denver Broncos, the Houston Oilers (twice) and the New Orleans Saints. A stallwart on the line that included Conrad Dobler, Dan Dierdorf , Tom Banks and Roger Finnie, Young was also a powerlifter who once finished second in the World's Strongest Man contest [...]
