It’s May of 1958 and crowds of his many fans are at the St. Louis Union Station when the Card’s train rolls in in the wee hours of the morning..Stan Musial and the team were returning from Chicago where two days before Stan hit a pinch-hit double off Moe Drabowsky for hit number 3,000. Think about it…a team travelling by train (if only from time to time)…fans up early to greet a hero…and Musial in a coat and tie…what an era!
